Participants are invited to submit their comments and questions on the FCH JU programme generally and on the multi annual implementation plan for the future R&D agenda in advance to info
fch [dot] europa [dot] eu (info[at]fch[dot]europa[dot]eu). These will be addressed in the plenary sessions and considered in the future management of the programme.
The Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking was established in 2008 as a public-private partnership between the European Commission, European industry and the research community to promote the commercialisation of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies. With a budget of approximately one billion Euros spread over six years, it is the most important European initiative to date promoting research, technological development and demonstrations of these clean energy technologies.
First organised in 2008 to mark the launch of the Joint Undertaking, the Stakeholders General Assembly is an annual event aimed at informing all interested parties about the activities of the FCH JU and acquiring feedback for future planning of the programme. It is also a key platform for European and global stakeholders across sectors to come together to examine and assess the current position of this emerging industry, exchange ideas on next steps and make contacts.
Scope of the conference
Stakeholders General Assembly 2010 is focused on the move from demonstrating fuel cell and hydrogen technologies to taking them to the market. The technology is reaching maturity and the industry is committed to taking the step to mass market. To ground the plenary debates, the Assembly will feature a presentation of an ambitious study on commercialising fuel cell vehicles to be published this year by a wide, global coalition of companies across the value-chain. Based on the companies' actual technological and cost data, the study provides a reliable comparative assessment of the business case for fuel cell vehicles.
In the plenary sessions, prominent speakers from the industry, public sector and the research community will offer insights into strategies and instruments for commercialisation of fuel cell and hydrogen applications around Europe and overseas. Project presentations will get into the details of the latest technical developments in the field, while specific sessions on the Joint Undertaking's progress and future strategy will provide the opportunity to have an in-depth view of the programme and participate in shaping its future development and priorities.
