Biography
- Pauline Rouch studied political science at the Institut d’études politiques in Strasbourg, and holds a masters’ degree from the Institut d’études européennes of ULB (Brussels).
- From 2002 to 2005, Ms. Rouch worked as a public affairs advisor within a Brussels-based privately-owned consultancy. Specialising in maritime transport and automotive industry policies, she advised international corporate clients as well as trade associations.
- Pauline Rouch joined the European Commission in March 2005, as a policy officer at DG INFSO (now DG CONNECT). The DG for Information Society and Media was then under the responsibility of EU Commissioner Viviane Reding (Luxembourg).
- In October 2010, Pauline was appointed member of cabinet of Viviane Reding in her new function as EU Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship and Vice-President of the European Commission.
- As a political advisor to the Vice-President, her role entailed relations with the European Parliament, the Council and national parliaments. She covered questions of gender equality, anti-discrimination policy, the rights of the disabled and the social and economic integration of the Roma.
- From April to July 2014, Pauline Rouch was appointed Deputy Head of Mrs. Reding’s Cabinet.
- Between July and October 2014, she was Head of Cabinet of Martine Reicherts (Luxembourg), the European Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental rights and Citizenship.
- From 1 November 2014 and for three years, Pauline Rouch was a member of the Cabinet of Jean-Claude Juncker (Luxembourg). She advised the President of the European Commission on one of his ten political priorities, namely digital policy. She also advised him on relations with the European Parliament.
- From December 2017 to September 2020, Pauline Rouch was the Commission Representative to Coreper I.
- From 5 July to 30 November 2019, she was detached in the transition team of President-nominate and then President-elect Ursula von der Leyen (Germany).
- Since 1 October 2021, Pauline Rouch is the Head of Cabinet of Commissioner Mariya Gabriel (Bulgaria), the European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.
